                                            [0] => Disasters are topics of great sociological interest for several reasons, including the deaths that eventually occur and the serious damage caused. In disasters with multiple fatalities, forensic identification is essential for humanitarian, civil and criminal reasons. This identification process is internationally called Disaster Victim Identification (DVI). The DVI process dynamics requires protocol adoption aiming to minimize the damages resulting from the event and to maximize the available resources to accomplish the mission successfully. In this vein, it’s imperative the definition of an effective communication structure that ensures critical information is transmitted to recipients. Objects of Information Science study are present in all activities developed in a DVI response, from the origin of information to its retrieval and use. The objective of this article is to demonstrate some aspects of Information Science in the DVI response, for this in the first section there is an introduction aiming to offer a first contact with the proposed theme, followed by a section with a literature review on DVI. The third section seeks to present the relationship and some aspects of Information Science in the DVI activity. In the fourth section, the dynamics of the activities are presented in a real case: the DVI response on the occasion of the rupture of the Brumadinho dam. The fifth and last section presents the final considerations.
                                            [1] => Desastres são temas de grande interesse sociológico por vários motivos, dentre eles as mortes que eventualmente possam ocorrer e os sérios danos causados. Em desastres com múltiplas vítimas fatais, a identificação forense é essencial por razões humanitárias, civis e criminais.  Este processo de identificação é denominado internacionalmente de Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) ou, em português, Identificação de Vítimas de Desastre. A dinâmica do processo DVI requer a adoção de protocolos visando a minimização dos danos decorrentes do evento e a maximização dos recursos disponíveis para que a missão seja cumprida com êxito. Assim, torna-se imperiosa a definição de uma estrutura de comunicação eficaz que garanta que as informações críticas sejam transmitidas para os destinatários. Objetos de estudo da Ciência da Informação estão presentes em todas as atividades desenvolvidas em uma resposta DVI, desde a origem da informação até a sua recuperação e uso. Objetiva-se neste artigo demonstrar alguns aspectos da Ciência da Informação na resposta DVI, para isso na primeira seção está uma introdução visando ofertar um primeiro contato com a temática proposta, em seguida há uma seção com revisão bibliográfica sobre DVI. Na terceira seção busca-se apresentar a relação e alguns aspectos da Ciência da Informação na atividade DVI. Na quarta seção, apresenta-se a dinâmica das atividades em um caso real: a resposta DVI por ocasião do rompimento da barragem de Brumadinho. Na quinta e última seção estão apresentadas as considerações finais.
