                                            [0] => This paper evaluates the emergence of information literacy through the history of its development by intellectuals in Librarianship. Through documentary research, it traces its origins within the context of unprecedented access to information and the use of new technologies. It presents American and Australian theorists who refined the concept, as well as official statements on the subject by professional associations and the United States government. The paper discusses the reception of the concept among Brazilian librarians and the facets it has acquired from them. It anticipates a new development of the concept, expanding to aspects of human life where the proper use of information is crucial, such as in financial issues. 
                                            [1] => Avalia o surgimento da competência em informação a partir da história do seu surgimento e desenvolvimento por intelectuais da Biblioteconomia. Pela pesquisa documental apresenta seu surgimento no contexto de um acesso sem precedentes à informação e o uso de novas tecnologias. Apresenta teóricos estadunidenses e australianos que aprimoraram o conceito e declarações oficiais sobre o tema por associações profissionais e o governo dos Estados Unidos. Aborda a recepção do conceito entre bibliotecários brasileiros e as facetas que recebeu por parte deles. Antevê um novo desenvolvimento do conceito, estendendo-se a aspectos da vida humana em que o bom uso das informações é crucial, como em questões financeiras.
