                    [0] => Discusses the motivational aspects of authors when requesting the embargo of their works in the Institutional Repository of the Federal University of Amazonas (RIU/UFAM). Although works are deposited in repositories, embargo requests by authors limit or restrict access to the content of works. Thus, this study sought to understand these reasons, making it possible to discuss possible solutions. In order to have this understanding, it was necessary to examine the existing literature on the subject, in order to have a basis for understanding the authors´ motivations, making it possible to debate possible measures to circumvent these problems. It should be noted that bibliographic research was used for theoretical reference, as well as documental and field research. As a data collection instrument, a questionnaire was applied to authors who blocked access to the content available at RIU/UFAM. From the analysis of the data, it was noticed that the main motivations for requesting an embargo are the possibility of publications in restricted access journals and patenting processes, based, therefore, on the principles of exclusivity and originality. It is noteworthy that the authors show interest in making their works of public access in the institution´s repository, and the pressure exerted by the publishers of restricted periodicals is the main motivator for the restriction of access. It concludes that, through this study, it was possible to explain the motivational aspects of the embargo in the context of the Federal University of Amazonas, as well as to discuss possible solutions to this problem.@en
                    [1] => Discute os aspectos motivacionais dos autores ao solicitarem o embargo de suas obras no Repositório Institucional da Universidade Federal do Amazonas (RIU/UFAM). Embora os trabalhos sejam depositados nos repositórios, as solicitações de embargo por parte dos autores limitam ou restringem o acesso ao conteúdo das obras. Desta forma, este estudo buscou compreender estes motivos, possibilitando discutir possíveis soluções. Para ter esse entendimento, fez-se necessário examinar a literatura existente sobre o tema, a fim de possuir fundamentação para compreender as motivações dos autores, possibilitando debater possíveis medidas para contornar estas problemáticas. Salienta-se que foi utilizada a pesquisa bibliográfica, para referencial teórico, assim como a pesquisa documental e de campo. Teve como instrumento de coleta de dados, questionário aplicado aos autores que embargaram o acesso ao conteúdo disponibilizado no RIU/UFAM. A partir da análise dos dados percebeu-se que as principais motivações de solicitação de embargo são a possibilidade de publicações em periódicos de acesso restrito e processos de patenteamento, baseados, portanto, nos princípios de exclusividade e originalidade. Destaca-se que os autores demonstram interesse de tornar as suas obras de acesso público no repositório da instituição, sendo a pressão realizada pelas editoras de periódicos restritos, o principal motivador da restrição de acesso. Conclui que, por meio deste estudo, foi possível explicitar os aspectos motivacionais do embargo no contexto da Universidade Federal do Amazonas, assim como discutir possíveis soluções para esta problemática.@pt
