                                            [0] => This study analyzes, from the theoretical and methodological perspective of discourse analysis, how thesaurus contribute to the institutionalization of certain meanings and how these instruments of knowledge organization can exclude subjects. The discourse analysis was conducted on the terms LATIN AMERICANS and LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN in the United Nations Bibliographic Information System Thesaurus, a multilingual thesaurus whose terms are found in the official languages of the United Nations, namely Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish. In this analytical journey, the notion of thesaurus by Clarinda Rodrigues Lucas, a researcher in knowledge organization and discourse analysis, was taken up.  The Organization for Standardization's (ISO) concept of multilingual thesaurus and Michèle Hudon's research on multilingualism in knowledge organization were also taken into account. Supported by a statistical discourse, the thesaurus of the United Nations Bibliographic Information System has a very limited number of official languages, generating exclusion of subjects who do not use the so-called "official languages". Furthermore, by resuming the historical discourse on Latin America, it was possible to verify that the analyzed terms materialize meanings that exclude, for example, Portuguese speakers.

                                            [1] => Este estudo analisa, sob a perspectiva teórico-metodológica da análise do discurso, como os tesauros contribuem com a institucionalização de determinados sentidos e como esses instrumentos de organização do conhecimento podem excluir sujeitos. A análise discursiva foi realizada a partir dos termos LATIN AMERICANS e LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN no Tesauro do Sistema de Informação Bibliográfica das Nações Unidas, um tesauro multilíngue cujos termos são encontrados nas línguas oficiais das Nações Unidas, a saber, árabe, chinês, espanhol, francês, inglês e russo. Nesse percurso analítico, foi retomada a noção de tesauro de Clarinda Rodrigues Lucas, pesquisadora da organização do conhecimento e da análise do discurso.  Foram retomados, além disso, o conceito de tesauro multilíngue da Organization for Standardization (ISO) e as pesquisas de Michèle Hudon sobre o multilinguismo na organização do conhecimento. Amparado por um discurso estatístico, verifica-se que o Tesauro do Sistema de Informação Bibliográfica das Nações Unidas tem um número muito limitado de idiomas oficiais, gerando exclusão de sujeitos que não utilizam as chamadas “línguas oficiais”. Ademais, ao retomar o discurso histórico sobre a América Latina, foi possível constatar que os termos analisados materializam sentidos que excluem, por exemplo, falantes de língua portuguesa.
