                                            [0] => Increasingly, images, whether photographs, drawings, sculptures or others, play an important role in society, whether in the scientific, literary or everyday life fields. The use of images is frequent in book covers and other documents, as they tend to represent the contents, aspects which, if considered, can help in the indexical representation of information items’ themes. The aim of this research is to analyze four widely known literary fiction covers at the iconographic level, in order to identify elements that may represent the contents of the respective books. Methodology: applied, exploratory and qualitative research, based on Erwin Panofsky's iconographic analysis, using Armadillo photo software, which enables semi-automatic, natural or controlled image analysis. Results: metadata for retrieving the books analyzed and the construction of a thesaurus based on these elements, confirming the relationship between cover and content, sign and context.
                                            [1] => Cada vez mais as imagens, sejam fotografias, desenhos, esculturas ou outras do gênero, desempenham papel de destaque na sociedade, seja no campo cientifico, literário ou no cotidiano do cidadão. O uso de imagens é frequente em capas de livros e outros documentos, pois tendem a representar os conteúdos, aspectos que, se considerados, podem auxiliar na representação indexical das temáticas dos itens informacionais. O objetivo dessa pesquisa é: analisar quatro capas de ficção literária amplamente conhecidas, a partir do nível iconográfico, de modo a identificar elementos que possam representar os conteúdos dos respectivos livros. Metodologia: pesquisa aplicada, de natureza exploratória e qualitativa, pautada na análise iconográfica de Erwin Panofsky, adotando-se o software Armadillo photo que possibilita análise semiautomática, natural ou controlada, de imagens. Resultados: são os metadados para a recuperação dos livros analisados e a construção de um tesauro com base nesses elementos, confirmando a relação entre capa e conteúdo, signo e contexto.
