Techniques such as keyword spam-ming, fraudulent link acquisition, content hiding or cloaking have become more so-phisticated in order to avoid penalties. In parallel, some websites take advantage of the limitations of search engines to detect certain unethical practices, positioning irrelevant, misleading, or low-quality content, to the detriment of users.

Pensado para mejorar la visibilidad de una web en los resultados de los buscadores median-te métodos poco éticos, se vale de ciertas debilidades técnicas o explotando sus factores de posicionamiento. El black hat SEO ha evolucionado al mismo ritmo que lo hacían los algoritmos de los buscadores, reaccionando a las medidas que estos han implementado para evitarlo. Técnicas como el spam de palabras clave, la adqui-sición fraudulenta de enlaces, la ocultación o el encubrimiento, se han sofisticado para evitar las penalizaciones. En paralelo, algunos sitios web se valen de las limita-ciones de los buscadores para detectar ciertas prácticas poco éticas, posicionar con-tenidos irrelevantes, engañosos o de escasa calidad, perjudicando a los usuarios.
