In 1934, one of the most important biographical fictions about the Dutch artist was published by Irving Stone, an American writer, this work inspired the creation of a film of the same name directed by Vincent Minelli and released in 1956, becoming one of the most recognized biographies to this day. about the Dutch painter.In this paper a discussion will be presented about the film Lust for Life (1956) and the homonymous work that inspired it, published by the American writer Irving Stone in 1934, as well as reflections on cinematographic adaptation in the 1950s. As a theoretical basis, we will use important literary theorists such as Eagleton (2006) and Candido (2011), as well as studies on biographies developed by Levi (1989) and Bourdieu (1996), as well as discussing aspects of film adaptation presented in the research of Stam (2008), Hutcheon (2013) among others.
 
                                            [1] => O pintor holandês Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890), um dos mais proeminentes artistas do Ocidente desperta um grande interesse no público não apenas por sua obra mas também por sua vida pessoal. Em 1934, foi publicado por Irving Stone, escritor estadunidense uma das mais importantes ficções biográficas sobre o artista holandês, esta obra inspirou a criação de um filme homônimo dirigido por Vincent Minelli e lançado em 1956, se tornando até a atualidade uma das biografias mais reconhecidas sobre o pintor holandês. Neste artigo, será apresentada uma discussão sobre o filme Lust for Life (1956) e a obra homônima que o inspirou, publicada pelo escritor estadunidense Irving Stone em 1934, bem como reflexões sobre a adaptação cinematográfica na década de 1950. Como fundamentação teórica utilizaremos importantes teóricos da literatura como Eagleton (2006) e Candido (2011), além de estudiosos sobre biografias como Levi (1989) e Bourdieu (1996) bem como discutiremos aspectos da adaptação cinematográfica apresentadas nas pesquisas de Stam (2008), Hutcheon (2013) entre outros.
