                                            [0] => Municipal archives are among the memory institutions that can best contribute to the achievement of Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities of the United Nations 2030 Agenda list of Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to the informed and critical participation of citizens in collective life. The aim of this article is to assess the practice of Portuguese municipal archives in promoting citizen participation. Based on a review of the literature and a survey sent to the eighteen municipal archives in the district capitals, as well as other municipal archives in the district, it is concluded that citizen participation is not, yet an instrument frequently developed by Portuguese archives, although some already have initiatives aimed at the direct participation of citizens.
                                            [1] => Os arquivos municipais encontram-se entre as instituições de memória que melhor podem contribuir para a concretização do Objetivo 11 Cidades e Comunidades Sustentáveis da lista de Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da Agenda 2030, da Organização das Nações Unidas, contribuindo para a participação informada e crítica dos cidadãos na vida coletiva. Este artigo tem como objetivo aferir qual a prática dos arquivos municipais portugueses para a promoção da participação cidadã. A partir de uma revisão de literatura e um inquérito remetido aos dezoito arquivos municipais das capitais de distrito, assim como de outros arquivos municipais do distrito, conclui-se que a participação cidadã ainda não é um instrumento desenvolvido com frequência pelos arquivos portugueses, embora alguns já desenvolvam iniciativas que visam a participação direta dos munícipes.
