                    [0] => This article presents reflections on the objectives, importance and terms linked to the “classification function”, also called “archival classification”. From a methodological perspective, we started with qualitative research that is based on a bibliographical review on classification in archives. As a result, it appears that Archival Science needs to deepen its theories and practices in classification, because by not defining exactly which field its work of organizing archives falls into and what type of knowledge construction it serves, it runs the risk of delimiting and exercise an arbitrary and subjective archival classification, incapable of representing the context of production of documents, their meanings and evidentiary capacity.@en
                    [1] => Este artigo apresenta reflexões acerca dos objetivos, importância e termos vinculados à “função classificação”, também denominada “classificação arquivística”. Em perspectiva metodológica partiu-se da pesquisa qualitativa que se apoiou em revisão bibliográfica sobre a classificação em arquivos. Como resultados, constata-se que a Arquivologia necessita aprofundar suas teorias e práticas em classificação, pois ao não situar exatamente em que campo se insere seu trabalho de organização de arquivos e a que tipo de construção de conhecimento serve, incorre no risco de delimitar e exercer uma classificação arquivística arbitrária e subjetiva, incapaz de representar o contexto de produção dos documentos, seus significados e capacidade probatória.@pt
