                                            [0] => The peer review process is a mechanism instituted by the academic and scientific communities around the world to guarantee the quality of the articles published in journals. In this paper, the general foundations of this practice are analyzed along with some of its aspects identified as strengths and weakness having as a startingpoint the results of a documental research. Some proposals to improve the process are also analyzed; these are mainly focused in reducing the bias and the time that the process currently takes.
                                            [1] => La evaluación por pares, o  es un mecanismo establecido por las comunidades académicas y cientícas del mundo para garantizar la calidad de los artículos publicados en revistas. En este trabajo, a partir de una investigación documental, se analizan los fundamentos generales de esta práctica y los principales aspectos identicados como fortalezas y debilidades en la misma. Además, se revisan algunas propuestas para mejorar esta práctica, principalmente enfocadas en la reducción de sesgos y de los tiempos requeridos actualmente.
