                                            [0] => The article aims to critically discuss the current scenario of Brazilian Archival Science, aiming to understand how the area is moving away from its social and cultural aspect to primarily meet the primary demands of the administration. Furthermore, it is also intended to discuss the role of the State in the consolidation of oblivion in Brazilian archives. To achieve this purpose, the methodological procedure was bibliographic and documental analysis. It is concluded that there is an urgent need to expand the knowledge of the archivist towards conceiving the social function of his profession so that the archives present documents that may be relevant for the preservation of the collective memory.
                                            [1] => O artigo tem como objetivo discutir criticamente o cenário atual da Arquivologia brasileira, visando perceber como a área está se afastando da sua vertente social e cultural para atender prioritariamente às demandas primárias da administração. Outrossim, pretende-se ainda, problematizar o papel do Estado na consolidação do esquecimento nos arquivos brasileiros. Para atingir tal finalidade, o procedimento metodológico foi a análise bibliográfica e documental. Conclui-se que é urgente a necessidade de ampliar o conhecimento do arquivista em direção a conceber a função social de sua profissão para que os arquivos apresentem documentos que possam ser relevantes para a preservação da memória coletiva.
