                    [0] => This article aims to identify the first public libraries created in the state of Bahia, Brazil, presenting a timeline from the year of creation of these cultural facilities. The research data consists of bibliographic and documentary surveys that contributed to identifying the historical and political foundations of the first municipal public libraries in Bahia. The research presented here rescues a scenario between the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century, with the founding of the Public Library of Bahia - which took place in 1811 - as a starting point. The analyses of the data collected were carried out from the deduction and induction of what was collected, observing the year of creation, the initiatives, and the possible contributions of the public power with regard to its operation.

                    [1] => O artigo tem como objetivo identificar as primeiras bibliotecas públicas criadas no estado da Bahia, Brasil, apresentando uma linha do tempo a partir do ano de criação desses equipamentos culturais. Os dados da pesquisa se constituem de levantamentos bibliográficos e documentais que contribuíram para identificar os fundamentos históricos e políticos das primeiras BP municipais baianas. A pesquisa aqui apresentada resgata um cenário compreendido entre o século XIX e as primeiras décadas do século XX, tendo como ponto de partida a inundação da Biblioteca Pública da Bahia – ocorrida no ano de 1811. As análises dos dados levantados consistiram a partir da dedução e indução do que foi coletado, observando o ano de criação, as iniciativas e as possíveis contribuições do poder público no que diz respeito ao seu funcionamento.@pt
