                                            [0] => In the middle of the 18th century the Seris and Pimas Indians from the north of Mexico revolted against the mistreat and abuse of the Spanish authorities, which made it necessary to send a pacifying expedition to that region. Based on Spanish soldier Domingo Elizondo's manuscript, Noticia individual de la expedición militar de Sinaloa, Ostimuri y Sonora..., the authors comment on Elizondo's efforts to understand the conduct of his native adversaries and the reasons why they rebelled. Without completely abandoning his ethnocentric view, that considers his group, country and nationality as superior to others, the Spanish soldier gradually modifies his appraisal of the "other", at the same time as he knows his Indian counterpart better, to the point of sympathizing with them and even justifying their actions and behavior.
                                            [1] => A mediados del siglo XVIII los indios seris y pimas del norte de México se sublevaron contra los malos tratos y abusos de las autoridades españolas, por lo que fue necesario mandar una expedición pacificadora a dicha región. Basados en el manuscrito del soldado español Domingo Elizondo, Noticia individual de la expedición militar de Sinaloa, Ostimuri y Sonora..., los autores nos comentan los esfuerzos de Elizondo por comprender la conducta de sus adversarios indígenas y las causas que los llevaron a rebelarse. Sin abandonar totalmente su postura etnocentrista, que considera a su grupo, país y nacionalidad como superiores a los demás, el militar español va modificando paulatinamente su valoración del "otro", a medida que va conociendo mejor a su contraparte indígena, hasta el grado de simpatizar con ellos e incluso justificar sus acciones y comportamiento.
