En noviembre de 1915 participó en la fundación de la primera Escuela Nacional de Bibliotecarios y Archiveros; formó parte del Departamento de Bibliotecas, fue presidente de la primera Asociación de Bibliotecarios Mexicanos y miembro fundador y docente de la Escuela Nacional de Biblioteconomía y Archivonomía. Apasionado de la docencia y la investigación bibliográfica, Iguíniz ocupó también el cargo de director de la Biblioteca Nacional y fundó la carrera de biblioteconomía y archivonomía en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras.
                                            [1] => The work of Juan Bautista Iguíniz as a driving force of the librarian profession in México is related to the history of the formation of capable personnel in the environments of libraries and national bibliography schools. For Iguíniz, a librarian must be an efficient “organizer of the intellectual treasures under his care”. In November, 1915, he participated in the foundation of the first National School of Librarians and File Managers, he was part of the Library Department, was president of the first Mexican Librarian Association, and founding member and scholar of the National School of Librarianship and Archivonomy (Documentation). Passionate towards teaching and bibliographic investigation, Iguíniz was also director of the National Library, and founded the librarianship and archivonomy career in the Philosophy and Letters Faculty.
