                                            [0] => The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) emerges as a need for book trade and circulation.In using it for bibliographic control, libraries regard it as a tool allowing them to know the editorial movement and compliance with the Law on Legal Deposit proportionately. This process has been developed in different ways in the Spanish America countries, though we have found coinciding points in the region. Particularly, the development and transformations of our ISBN System are herein described.

Las bibliotecas, para el control bibliográfico, ven en la utilización del mismo, un instrumento que permite conocer el movimiento editorial y el cumplimiento de La Ley de Depósito Legal proporcionalmente. Este proceso se ha desarrollado de manera diferente en los países de Hispanoamérica, aunque encontramos puntos coincidentes en la región. Se describe en particular el desarrollo y transformaciones de nuestro Sistema ISBN.
