The text offered a historic approximation to the formation process of information professionals in Cuba, framed in the diversity of national and  global circumstances that legitimate them.Design/Methodology/Approach. The examination performed was supported on the requirements of a bibliographic research, which enabled to focus on  pochal circumstances of the historical-formative process of information  professionals in Cuba.Results/Discussion. The exploration developed was centered on the  raining of information professionals in Cuba. This process was based on  an examination over time and in certain spatial circumstances of the historical conditions; which allowed to explain the peculiarities of the  Cuban formation of these professionals, visible in a timely manner, from and as a derivation of the revolutionary changes since 1959, in opposition to the weak development of the formation of these professionals in the so-called Republican stage.Conclusions. The formation of archivists, librarians and information  pecialists in Cuba has a short history that was not extraneous to another  formative processes developed at global level, but the particularities of the Cuban historic development confer certain specificity.Originality/Value. This study is distinguished for the insertion of  professional formation within determined global circumstances and premises, where it was possible to ratify the historicity of the studied topic.

En el texto se ofreció una aproximación histórica al proceso de formación de profesionales de la información en Cuba, enmarcado en la diversidad de circunstancias globales y nacionales que lo legitiman.Diseño/Metodología/Enfoque. El examen realizado se apoyó en los requerimientos de una investigación bibliográfica viabilizadora de la circunstancialidad epocal que sirvió de contexto del proceso histórico-formativo de los profesionales de la información cubanos.Resultados/Discusión. La exploración desarrollada tuvo como centro la formación de profesionales de la información en Cuba. Este proceso se conformó a partir de un examen a lo largo del tiempo y en determinadascircunstancias espaciales de las condicionantes históricas; las cuales permitieron explicar las peculiaridades de la formación cubana de estos profesionales, visibles puntualmente, desde y como derivación de loscambios revolucionarios desde 1959, en oposición al débil desarrollo de la formación de estos profesionales en la llamada etapa republicana.Conclusiones. La formación de archiveros, bibliotecarios  y especialistas en información, como profesionales en Cuba, tiene una corta historia que no fue ajena a otros procesos formativos que se desarrollaron a nivel global; solo que las particularidades del desarrollo histórico cubano le dan determinada especificidad.Originalidad/Valor. El estudio realizado se distingue por la inserción de la formación de profesionales en determinadas circunstancias globales y locales, donde fue posible ratificar la historicidad del asunto estudiado.PALABRAS CLAVE: Información; Profesional; Formación;Historia; Cuba.
