                                            [0] => This article presents a brief background of the Institute of Chemistry of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the results of a bibliometric study of its scientific production, taking into account the papers published by its academic staff in national and international journals during the 2000- 2009 period. It analyzed the distribution of their contributions by author, year, journal, country of origin of the journal, publisher, language, subject specialty and impact factor. In total, 1 349 papers, published in 247 journals, were analyzed. The results of this bibliometric study can contribute to decision making in the scientific policies of this Institute.
                                            [1] => El artículo presenta brevemente los antecedentes del Instituto de Química (IQ) de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), así como el resultado de un estudio bibliométrico de su producción científica tomando en cuenta los artículos publicados por el personal académico en revistas nacionales y extranjeras durante el periodo 2000-2009. Se analizó la distribución de las contribuciones por autor, año, revista, país de origen de la revista, editorial, idioma, especialidad y factor de impacto. En total se analizaron 1 349 artículos publicados en 247 revistas. Los resultados de este estudio bibliométrico pueden contribuir a la toma de decisiones en el marco de las políticas científicas del propio Instituto.
