                                            [0] => The founding of the National Library of Peru was one of the most important cultural milestones in the process of establishing the new Peruvian state after the proclamation of its independence by General José de San Martín in 1821. In this study, I propose that the creation of the National Library has a double institutional and symbolic dimension: it constitutes a milestone in the constitution of the new state and in the process of breaking with the colonial regime.
