                                            [0] => Having the Internet website Maria-Brazil, created in 1995, as its empirical object, the paper explores the discourse about Brazilian national identity shown on websites targeted at foreign audiences. In order to do so, our option was to analyze Brazilian culture as a fundamental element of such identity and, within culture, Brazilian music and folklore are analyzed. The paper uses the theoretical framework of Cultural Studies in support of Discourse Analysis. The objective is to discuss how the production of meaning about Brazilian identity before the Other (the foreign) takes place nowadays, when globalization of culture is the rule of the day and the discourses, through media such as the Internet, increasingly circulate on a global scale.
                                            [1] => Apoiando-se em um objeto empírico - o site da Internet Maria- Brazil, criado em 1995 . buscamos explorar o discurso a respeito da identidade nacional brasileira na Internet, feito em sites voltados para o público estrangeiro. Para tanto, optou-se pela análise da cultura brasileira como elemento constitutivo preponderante desta identidade e, dentro da cultura, o recorte escolhido foi o da música e do folclore brasileiros. O artigo utiliza o referencial teórico dos Estudos Culturais em apoio à Análise do Discurso, com o objetivo de discutir como se dá a produção de sentidos a respeito da identidade brasileira aos olhos do Outro (o estrangeiro) em tempos de mundialização da cultura, quando os discursos, através de mídias como a Internet, crescentemente circulam em nível global.
