                    [0] => This paper focuses on the results of a research still in progress related to the current reality of the sets of objects referring to the historical processes of scientific and technological development present in both Brazil and Portugal. These material evidences may constitute a part of the Science and Technology cultural heritage. Research nature was both qualitative and quantitative, characterized as descriptive-exploratory, and with a bibliographical component. After collected data treatment and analysis, it was sought to produce knowledge about the found sets, their location, preservation situation and institutional recognition. The survey has been delimited in relation to areas of knowledge and historical period of interest, focusing on the objects related to exact and earth sciences, as well as the different engineering specialties, being of relevance those objects produced up until the 1960s. In Brazil, from a universe of 1,500 institutions (Museums, Higher Education Institutions, Research Institutions and High Schools), 337 records referring to different sets of objects were produced, coming to a total of about 40,000 objects. Museums (49%) and higher education institutions (41%) were characterized as dominant locations of the sets of objects. In Portugal, out of a universe of more than 950 institutions, 91 records were produced up to the moment, coming to an estimated total of 43,000 objects, with a prevalence of museums (74%) identified. Both countries’ history is able to explain, at least partially, such numbers, and that includes, for instance, an explanation for the small presence, in Portugal, of sets of objects in higher education and research institutions, since these, with some notable exceptions with trajectories that can be retracted in time aside, were constituted beyond the research’s time-frame. In these notable cases, it is not unusual to find that at least part of the objects is already allocated in museums, underlining the centrality of museums in the safeguard of Science and Technology cultural heritage.@en
                    [1] => Esse trabalho se debruça sobre resultados de pesquisa – ainda em andamento – relacionada à realidade atual dos conjuntos de objetos referentes aos processos históricos de desenvolvimentos científico e tecnológico, encontrados no Brasil e em Portugal. Esses vestígios materiais poderão constituir parte do patrimônio cultural de Ciência e Tecnologia. A natureza da pesquisa realizada foi qualiquantitativa, caracterizada como descritiva-exploratória, com componente bibliográfico. Após o tratamento e análise dos dados coletados, procurou-se produzir conhecimento sobre os conjuntos encontrados, sua localização, situação de preservação e reconhecimento institucional. Foram estipulados dois cortes, um cronológico e outro por áreas do conhecimento para os levantamentos. Assim, integram o conjunto de objetos, aqueles produzidos até a década de 1960 e que pertençam às ciências exatas e da terra e engenharias. No Brasil, a partir de um universo de 1500 instituições (Museus; Instituições de ensino superior; Instituições de pesquisa; e Instituições de ensino médio) foram produzidas 337 fichas de registro de conjuntos de objetos, totalizando cerca de 40.000 objetos. Verificou-se uma prevalência dos museus (49%) e das instituições de ensino superior (41%) na presença de conjuntos de objetos de interesse. Em Portugal, partiu-se de um universo de mais de 950 instituições, e foram produzidas, até o momento, 91 fichas, abrigando um número estimado de 43.000 objetos, com prevalência dos museus (74%). A trajetória histórica de ambos os países explica, ao menos parcialmente, tais números, incluindo a pequena presença, em Portugal, de instituições de ensino superior e pesquisa, pois teriam se constituído em momentos posteriores aos limites estabelecidos pelo recorte temporal, a exceção de casos notórios, cujas trajetórias podem ser largamente recuadas no tempo. Casos notórios estes, nos quais, não raramente, pelo menos parte do patrimônio encontra-se já alocado em museus, sublinhando a centralidade dessa tipologia de instituição na preservação do patrimônio cultural de Ciência e Tecnologia.@pt
