                    [0] => In the context of his encompassing systems theory, Niklas Luhmann (2010 [1995]) rejected the “metaphor of information transfer”, an hegemonic concept since the “theory of communication” of Claude Shannon (1948), which put him in a “minority position” in relation to the academic research of his time. In an effort to erect “a building complex enough to serve as a contrast to what was obtained by tradition”, Luhmann then proposed a surrogate concept of information, which is here interpreted in the light of linguistic arguments. We conclude that, for Luhmann, information is either “action of self information” or “a result or effect” of this action, which must be understood in the sense of "instruction of processes". We consider, in the end, that his concept and theory are able to expand the epistemological horizons of Information Science.@en
                    [1] => No âmbito de sua oniabarcadora teoria de sistemas, Niklas Luhmann (2010 [1995]) recusou a “metáfora da transferência de informação”, conceito hegemônico desde a “teoria da comunicação” de Claude Shannon (1948), o que o colocou em uma “posição minoritária” em relação à pesquisa acadêmica de sua época. No esforço de erigir “um edifício suficientemente complexo, capaz de servir de contraste ao que foi obtido pela tradição”, Luhmann propôs então um conceito de informação substitutivo, que é aqui interpretado à luz de argumentos linguísticos. Concluímos que, para Luhmann, informação é tanto a própria “ação de informar-se” quanto o “resultado ou efeito” dessa ação, que deve ser compreendida no sentido de “instrução de processos”. Consideramos, por fim, que seus conceito e teoria são capazes de expandir os horizontes epistemológicos da Ciência da Informação.@pt
