                                            [0] => Digital libraries are very complex systems that integrate a range of services for capturing, cataloguing, storing, searching, retrieval, preservation and management of digital information. Each one of the different conceptions of digital libraries adopts a different architecture and model. This paper discusses the basics concepts and principles involved in design and architecture of digital libraries, while proposes a generic architecture for them. From this generic architecture a list of research topics is extracted. These research topics are intended to cover the main issues of digital library area.
                                            [1] => As bibliotecas digitais são sistemas bastante complexos que integram um conjunto de serviços voltados para a captura, a catalogação, o armazenamento, a busca, a recuperação, a preservação e a gestão da informação digital. Cada uma das diferentes concepções de biblioteca digital adota um modelo e uma arquitetura diferente. O presente trabalho discute os conceitos e os princípios básicos envolvidos nos projetos e na arquitetura de sistemas de bibliotecas digitais, ao mesmo tempo em que propõe uma arquitetura genérica para esses sistemas. A partir dessa arquitetura extrai-se uma lista de temas de pesquisa para a área. Esses temas têm como objetivo cobrir as principais questões da área de bibliotecas digitais.
