pedagogical tendencies, the interdisciplinary relation with or evolution from library science, and the authorship of the first concept. In this historical context, explanations arise for the various denominations of the area and the professional, based on a detailed description of events
between 1961 and 1962, known as the Georgia Tech Conferences. However, the greatest importance of these conferences was that of conceptualising and formalising information science in the USA, as an area of academic professional activity.@en

informação, no que se refere a três aspectos: gênese nas vertentes teórica e pedagógica, relação interdisciplinar com a biblioteconomia ou dela evoluindo e autoria do primeiro conceito. Nesse retorno histórico, a partir de uma descrição detalhada dos eventos de 1961 e 1962, conhecidos
como Conferências do Georgia Tech, surgem ainda as explicações para as várias denominações da área e do profissional. No entanto, a maior importância das citadas conferências se deve a conceituação e formalização da ciência da informação nos Estados Unidos, como área de nível profissional acadêmico.@pt
