                                            [0] => An attempt is made in order to identify the present trend of the STI - Scientific - and technological information in Brazil starting from the evidence of its need in opposition to the evidence of its present configuration. In this sense it is highlighted as essential points for refection the relationship between knowledge and information, and its value in contemporary world; the information and transmission systems, overall the role of the press, the education and whether their history includes or not policies. Arid last there are three ways suggested for 'he establishment of STI policies in the country. It is urged a definition regarging to this matter, before it is too late.
                                            [1] => Tenta-se vislumbrar a tendência atual da ICT - Informação Científica e Tecnológica no Brasil, a partir da evidência de sua necessidade contraposta às implicações da sua conformação na realidade. Nesse sentido, destaca-se como pontos essenciais de reflexão a relação conhecimento - informação, e o seu valor no mundo contemporâneo; os sistemas de informação e transmissão do conhecimento, sobretudo, no que tange ao papel da imprensa, escola e biblioteca; e os planos de ICT, cuja história pode respaldar se configuram ou não políticas. Por fim, colocam-se em questão três caminhos que o pais pode adotar ou seguir em termos de ICT, fazendo-se urgente uma definição a esse respeito, antes que seja tarde.
