                                            [1] => It presents the social and scientific dimension that the competency notion in contemporary takes to draw connections with the meaning and implications of qualification established through the relationship between education and labor and the restructuring of the means of production. Seeks to understand and collaborate with the reflection of the social and scientific uses of the term competence and interrelation with information literacy. Descriptive study, with qualitative analyzes from the literature of Library Science, Information Science and Sociology. The information literacy is displayed as a result of social changes, mainly educational thereby impacting traditional areas of accumulation and dissemination of information, such as libraries.
