                    [0] => O desenvolvimento foi um dos conceitos que nortearam as políticas públicas no Brasil ao longo do século XX, sendo concebido eminentemente como crescimento econômico. No berço do século XXI, esta concepção começa a sofrer mudanças, inserida no processo de transformações político-administrativas do Estado brasileiro. Tais alterações, que visam particular desenvolvimento, democracia participativa, sustentabilidade e valorização das diferenças regionais; passam a servir como regras para a implementação de novas políticas e atuação de instituições inovadoras. Este artigo situa o presente contexto destas mudanças a partir da experiência do Instituto de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do Jequitinhonha, Mucuri e Norte de Minas e do Projeto de Combate à Pobreza Rural.Palavras-chave Desenvolvimento regional. In the cradle of the new century, this conception begins to undergo changes inserted into the process of political and administrative transformation of the Brazilian State. These changes, that aimed to link development, participatory democracy, sustainability and  enhancement of regional differences, come to serve as rules to implement new policies and innovative institutions. This paper situates the context of these changes from the experience of the Instituto de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do Jequitinhonha, Mucuri e Norte de Minas with the Rural Poverty Reduction Project (PCPR).KeywordsRegional development.
