                                            [0] => It aims to present the prison environment as a fertile field for studies in Information Science and the possible contributions of the area for people deprived of liberty. Thus, through a literature review based on the theoretical assumptions of the area with an emphasis on the social paradigm, it aimed to present subjects in deprivation of liberty as people who formulate and have the right to access information, using mediation as a possibility to favor the return of these people to coexist in freedom. In this way, the information in the prison environment is contextualized and the relevance of including these subjects in the Information Science research agenda is defended, under the assumption of its social character. The results demonstrate that this area of ​​knowledge can contribute to a better understanding of the informational elements that permeate the prison environment, and based on the mediation of information, there are possibilities to develop actions that promote the improvement of access, use and appropriation of information, which may enable the personal, professional and social development of the subjects of freedom, favoring the life in prison and the return to society. It is concluded that the inclusion of informational objects in the Information Science research agenda can contribute to alleviate the informational exclusion experienced in prisons and broaden the horizon of actions developed in favor of assisting in the social inclusion of people deprived of freedom.
                                            [1] => Objetiva tratar o ambiente da prisão como um campo fértil para estudos na Ciência da Informação e as possíveis contribuições da área para as pessoas em privação de liberdade. Destarte, por meio de revisão de literatura pautada nos pressupostos teóricos da área, com ênfase no paradigma social, visou apresentar os sujeitos em privação de liberdade como pessoas que necessitam e têm direito ao acesso à informação, utilizando a mediação como possibilidade de favorecer o retorno dessas pessoas ao convívio em liberdade. Deste modo, contextualiza-se a informação no ambiente prisional e defende-se a pertinência da inclusão desses sujeitos na agenda de pesquisa da Ciência da Informação, sob o pressuposto do seu caráter social. Os resultados demonstram que esta área do conhecimento, pode contribuir efetivamente para uma melhor compreensão dos fenômenos informacionais que permeiam o ambiente prisional. Pautado na mediação da informação há possibilidades de desenvolver ações que promovam a melhoria do acesso, uso e apropriação da informação, podendo possibilitar o desenvolvimento pessoal, profissional e social dos sujeitos privados de liberdade, favorecendo a vivência no cárcere e o retorno à sociedade. Conclui-se que a inclusão desses sujeitos informacionais na agenda de pesquisa da Ciência da Informação, poderá contribuir para minorar a exclusão informacional vivenciada nos estabelecimentos penais e ampliar o horizonte de ações desenvolvidas em prol de auxiliar na inclusão social das pessoas em privação de liberdade.
