Indicates the trajectory of library Science practice from two aspects: preservation and dissemination. Explores and analyzes the library as a cultural device and its social multifunctionality. Concludes that exists a certain opacity facing the role of what is the preciput agente of the library and regardless of their specialty, the institution or the information carrier with which it Works, the librarian may be, above all, a mediator and that preservation may be subject to spread and not the opposite.
