                                            [0] => Paul Singer is an intellectual widely recognized in Brazil for studies that deal with development, socialism and solidarity economy. However, his studies are more comprehensive, including themes such as urban land, capitalist development, politics, power and education. The aim of this article is to concisely present the contribution of Paul Singer's thought to contemporary Brazilian social theory. Based on bibliographical research in journal portals with the indication of authorship by Paul Singer, a set of 8 articles published by the author between the years 1980 to 2009 was gathered. As a result, it became evident that the contribution of Singer's intellectual career is significant as it unfolds in complex and fruitful themes for the understanding of Brazilian society. Among the topics highlighted are the critique of the market economy, the dynamics of the capitalist social formation, critical studies on the dependency theory, solidary development and also, education, democracy, society and the State. Thus, it is concluded that social theory finds in the writings of Paul Singer a vast scientific literature capable of shedding light on the functioning and development of the capitalist system, but also on the mechanisms of institutional and social change towards an economy and a society centered on human dignity
                                            [1] => Paul Singer é um intelectual amplamente reconhecido no Brasil por obras que versam sobre o desenvolvimento, o socialismo e a economia solidária. Contudo, seus estudos são mais abrangentes incluindo temas como o solo urbano, o desenvolvimento capitalista, a política, o poder e a educação.  O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar de forma concisa a contribuição do pensamento de Paul Singer para a teoria social contemporânea brasileira. Com base em pesquisa bibliográfica em portais de periódicos com a indicação de autoria de Paul Singer, reuniu-se um conjunto de 8 artigos publicados pelo autor entre os anos de 1980 a 2009. Como resultado, evidenciou-se que a contribuição da carreira intelectual de Singer é significativa na medida em que se desdobra em temas complexos e profícuos para à compreensão da sociedade brasileira. Dentre os temas destacam-se a crítica à economia de mercado, a dinâmica da formação social capitalista, estudos críticos sobre a teoria da dependência, desenvolvimento solidário e ainda, educação, democracia, sociedade e Estado. Assim, conclui-se que a teoria social encontra nos escritos de Paul Singer uma vasta literatura científica capaz de lançar luz sobre o funcionamento e o desenvolvimento do sistema capitalista, mas também sobre os mecanismos de mudança institucional e social em direção a uma economia e uma sociedade centrada na dignidade humana.
