                    [0] => The pandemic caused by the new coronavirus constitutes the biggest Public Health emergency faced by the international community in decades. In Brazil, concerns related to health are added to concerns related to the issue of social inequality, which increased during the pandemic period. This paper discusses and analyzes the work of the Social Assistance Reference Center – CRAS, in Arapiraca/AL, in the struggle against the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The work is based on bibliographic, documentary research and participant observation, carried out between March and July 2020. The results point to a significant increase in the demand, through CRAS, for existing services / social assistance and others that became available during the pandemic in the sphere of Social Assistance. The extension of social benefits to a larger number of people was a strategy to contain the increase in social vulnerability resulting from the pandemic.@en
                    [1] => A pandemia causada pelo novo coronavírus se constitui na maior emergência de Saúde Pública enfrentada pela comunidade internacional em décadas. No Brasil, às preocupações relacionadas à saúde se somam apreensões ligadas à questão da desigualdade social, que aumentou durante o período pandêmico. Este trabalho discute e analisa a atuação do Centro de Referência da Assistência Social – CRAS, em Arapiraca/AL, no enfrentamento à pandemia do novo coronavírus. O trabalho está baseado em pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e observação participante, realizada entre março e julho de 2020. Os resultados apontam um aumento significativo na procura, através do CRAS, por serviços/auxílios sociais já existentes e outros que passaram a ser disponibilizados durante a pandemia na esfera da Assistência Social. A extensão de benefícios sociais a um contingente maior de pessoas se constituiu numa estratégia de contenção do aumento da vulnerabilidade social decorrente da pandemia.@pt
